Obituary of Robert Lane" Doc" Owens
Funeral services for United States Navy Corpsman Robert Lane Owens age 44 of Hebert will be held 10:00AM on Saturday June 2, 2018 from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church at Hebert. Interment with full military honors will be at the Duchesne Cemetery at Hebert under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Owens Family will receive visitors on Friday June 1, 2018 at the Bethany Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Known by everyone as “Doc”, he was born on February 16, 1974 at Columbia to the union of his parents Charles Jodie Owens and Linda Murphy Owens, and he passed suddenly from this life on May 30, 2018 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. To know “Doc” was to love him, he always was there for anyone who might be in need. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, grand son and friend. He very recently retired from the United States Navy after twenty years of service. He served as a Hospital Corpsman. The greatest honor he ever had was to serve the United States of America as a Corpsman in the United States Navy. Family was everything to him. He was so proud to be back at home with the family he loved. He loved the Beouf River and the Hebert Community. Everyone who knew him will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his father Jodie Owens and by his grandparents , Earl and Leona Murphy and Ruby Owens.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his precious mother Linda Murphy Owens, his Brother, Chuck Owens (Jody), two sisters: Lori Owens ( Clint ) and Gale Owens; nieces and nephews, Aaron and Seth Morales, Brandin, Kolby, Kandi, Kalyn, Holden, Hayden and Kenzli Owens; and a host of great nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog Maddie who was as much as a daughter as she could be. Pallbearers include Aaron Morales, Brandin Owens, Kolby Owens, Holden Owens, David Platt and Hayden Owens.
