Obituary of Kathreen Ann "Kathy" Whittington
Memorial services for Kathreen Ann “Kathy” Whittington, age 65 of Grayson will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with the family receiving visitors beginning at 1:00 PM until time of service. Kathy was born on September 16, 1952 at Jena, LA to the union of her parents, James McGraw and Mary Louise Beckham McGraw and she passed from this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at her residence in Grayson following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy was a loving soul that always had a smile upon her face. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone around her had what they needed and then some. She was a very artistic talented woman in her love of crafting. She loved to visit garage sales and search out that one special piece. She loved flower gardening and loved to feed and watch her hummingbirds from every window. To know her was to love her. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, by her sister, Rita Jordan, her brother, Edgar McGraw and her in-laws, Owen C. “Pete” Whittington and Lurlene Strickland Whittington.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of forty-four years, Jimmy Whittington; two daughters: Christy Whittington and Jennifer “Jenny” Gibson and husband, Andy; one granddaughter, Heather Montgomery and fiance, Eric; one great-grandson, Addison Gannon Stryker Olden; two sisters: Angela Hill and husband, Bill and Diane Hollindshead; two brothers: Joe Smith and wife, Ann and Charles Smith and wife, Theresa and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or Cancer Foundation League.com. The family wishes to send out special thank you's to Kindred at Home and Aime Hospice Care for the caring compassionate care they provided . A special thank you to her sister, Angela for the care and support she offered.
