Lelon was my cousin and I have only fond memories of him. He was the rock for the Kenney family. He had his fathers sense of humor and enjoyed teasing the kids and family members. He also had his mothers work ethic and was greatly successful at everything he pursued. He will be long remembered as the champion for the farmers in his district. All who knew him will miss this compassionate, fun loving, God fearing man. Sherry know that Angie & I have you in our hearts & prayers during this most sad time for you.

Though our hearts are saddened and broken... we smile through the tears knowing another Angel has been called to His Heavenly Home and will be watching over all of us. As I prayed during the early morning hours today; I prayed for God’s Healing and comforting peace and strength for Sherrie, Catherine, my Mom & the Kenney family and Maw Retta’s sons; as well as, for his loyal workers that he so dearly loved- Ricky, Bobby and the others.... I began to ask God to surround each of them and my family with his Mercy, Peace, Hope, and Love...to feel our Hearts with Love and give Us strength and understanding to get through this loss of such a compassionate, humble man- out Mr Lelon. As I kept praying, I became overwhelmed with tears and sadness, all of sudden I felt peace and began to smile...God’s Presence right there with me... peace filled my Heart and God blessed me with the most comforting image.... Mamaw Ken, Mr Bud, His Pam, Mr Billy, Mr Bruce & His Love/Best Friend... Mamaw Retta...all standing there with the most heavenly smiles as the welcomed their Heart, their Love, their Caregiver... their son, dad, brother, husband was home and rejoicing In Heaven.... Papaw Lelon wasn’t sad, wasn’t weak, sick... he was Home... he stood so tall, and was smiling his biggest smile as he was Embraced with God’s Heavenly Love and all of a sudden, I began to laugh through the tears, as I knew all would be OK.... As a Kenney-Heavenly Homecoming was awaiting Him! As we turn to God for guidance, peace and understanding, we thank God for blessing us ... to be loved and friended by a wonderful Man of God! We ask God for strength and courage to get through this time of loss by turning to Him & giving It All to Him...., and thanking him for our blessings. As for my family, my Mom, He knew exactly what’s he was doing when he sent Maw Ken to ask Mom to come take care of Her, Mr Bud.... as my family needed Maw Ken and Mr Lelon, Maw Retta and Sherry as much as she needed My mom, Maw Dot. We gained so much by being in the presence of such a loving family, Maw Kens love of cooking, words of wisdom, Papaw Lelon’s stern leadership, but soft loving words of encouragement when needed. They never missed a child of mines life event - Birth, birthdays, holidays, baptism, communion, etc.... wow, to have been blessed with another loving family was an Honor. But, our hearts still break, and we are grief-struck as we yearn for that one last Hug, a Kiss on the cheek, a boisterous greeting, wow... I will forever hold that memory deep within my Heart... Mr Lelon’s contagious smile, words of wisdom, faith, trust, ... his fun-loving personality and infectious laugh as he loved to Joke...
As we prepare for his funeral, I’m saddened that we must say Goodbye; but I am so thankful, that God allowed us a final gift... we were able to speak to him on Father's Day and to tell him how much we love him and we’were praying for God’s Healing, God’s Will, peace and strength for Sherrie, Catherine and him and couldn’t wait to see Him this week.... (THank you Bobby, for the call- I’m forever grateful for that final memory and opportunity..) in closing I pray, “God be each of His loved ones, give Sherrie the strength to continue Mr Lelon’s legacy, and courage to carry-on as the days ahead will be so hard for my sweet friend, and I thank you dear God for relieving him of his sickness and suffering... as I know Mr Lelon would not have wanted to continue to be sick, weak and having to depend on others, a facility, to care for him... as I could tell in our last conversation- he was tired, weary, and just ready to complete his earthly path and receive his heavenly blessings.... Amen! We love you Mr Lelon-my forever #1!
Watch over us, protect my babies, and ...until we see you in Heaven! tina
