Obituary of Evelyn Shipp McKeithen
Evelyn McKeithen of Columbia, was born on July 10, 1920 and passed away on February 23, 2021. Before moving to Columbia, she was a longtime resident of Hodge, Louisiana, where she lived with her husband and raised her children. A graveside service will be held at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, Louisiana on Saturday, February 27 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastors Chris Andrews and Stephen Fife officiating.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. A. Eglin McKeithen; her parents, George and Mae Shipp; and her sisters: Mary Alice Mann and Beatrice Jackson. Survivors include her three children: Dr. James E. McKeithen and wife Teresa, Mary De Rucker and husband Wilbur, and Jane Meredith and husband Scott. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Japheth McKeithen (Jennifer), Duncan McKeithen (Lisa), Domini Cooper (Dave), Leslie Crain (Steven), Bea Rice (Colby), Jesse Rucker (Kacey), Jessica McDaniel (Justin), Ashleigh Moreno (Jeremy), Angela Kosarek (Logan), and Evy Bonaventure (Blake); sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia for their excellent care, as well as special friend and caregiver, Janice Blankenship.
