Obituary of Peggy Whitehead

Funeral services for Peggy Davis Whitehead, age 84, of Olla, Louisiana will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Olla Methodist Church, Olla, Louisiana with Bro. Aaron Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Olla. Visitation will be Friday at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla from 5 PM until 8 PM and Saturday at the church from 10 AM until time of service. Peggy was born November 5, 1931 to the union of Gove Davis and Velda Fore Davis in Grayson, Louisiana and passed from this life on Tuesday, January 26, at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia, Louisiana. Peggy cherished spending time with her family and she will be greatly missed by them. She enjoyed working puzzles, listening to music, reading and travel. She loved shopping with her special friends, Mary Mabou and Cheryl Ross. She attended the Olla Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Libby Slate, and her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray Whitehead. She is survived by her brother, Don Davis; daughters: Donna Evans (Dexter) and Deborah Martinez (Victor); sons: Carl Whitehead (Joni), Joel Whitehead and Matt Whitehead (Vicki); grandchildren: Zach (Erica), Jason (Julie), Heather (Bill), Max, Adam, Kyle, Dolph (Sara), Eric and Ethan; great-grandchildren: Ethan and Jordan, as well as two special cousins, Joan and Francis. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Zach Evans, Adam Whitehead, Kyle Whitehead, Eric Whitehead, Ethan Whitehead, Max Martinez, Jason Evans and Dolph Minard. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Mabou and Joe Rachal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Olla Methodist Church or the Common Ground Community Youth Program.
